At the Innovation Days in Chicago DMG MORI will show one of the series’ most popular models – the NLX 2500SY 700. When it comes to lathes, stability and rigidity are the key to excellent machining results and efficient processes. This is exactly what was taken into consideration in. Oct 15, 2019 Cutting edge 5-axis technology from the inventor and innovation leader! DMG MORI - The 5-Axis Champions DMG MORI. DMG MORI CNC Machines: Chicago Innovation Days!.
The range of workpieces that can be handled by the 500-pallet NHX 5000 2nd Generation includes parts with diameters of up to ø 31 in. and heights of 39 in.
With the NHX 5000 2nd Generation DMG MORI offers a horizontal machining center that is as compact as it is dynamic; a machine ideally suited for the manufacture of complex and demanding components and on through to highly efficient serial production, e.g. in the automotive industry or machine and plant engineering. Together with its new smaller sister machine - the NHX 4000 2nd Generation – the new NHX series now boasts a Direct Drive Table (DDM technology) with speeds of up to 100 rpm as option and direct distance measurement systems from MAGNESCALE in all axes in its standard versions. The construction of the machines has also been optimised with regard to the use of shorter tools. The distance from the spindle nose to the center of the pallet has been minimised to 2.8 in. thus ensuring longer tool service life and higher process stability. The new NHX 2nd Generation machines also offer all the advantages of the new joint DMG MORI design and CELOS.
The NHX 4000 2nd Generation and NHX 5000 2nd Generation continue in the footsteps of the NHX 4000, whose long-standing success on the market derives from its perfect combination of functionality, productivity and precision. The NHX machine concept is based on the successful NH series with its more than 6,000 machines installed worldwide.
The range of workpieces that can be handled by the 400-pallet
NHX 4000 2nd Generation includes parts with diameters of up to ø24.8 in. and heights of 35.4 in. The NHX 4000 2nd Generation includes components with an extremely high degree of accuracy and efficiency in its 22 x 22 x 26 in. (in X x Y x Z) work area. NHX 5000 2nd Generation includes 29 x 29 x 35 in. work area of the larger 500-pallet sister machine has space for workpieces with heights of up to 39 in. and widths of ø 31 in.
The high precision demanded of the horizontal machining centers goes hand-in-hand with impressive ratings for speed and dynamics. The rapid traverse rate is 2,362.2 ipm in the standard version with acceleration rates of up to 1,2 g. Chip-to-chip times are just 2.2 seconds and the Direct Drive Table (DDM) with a speed of up to 100 rpm ensures the shortest possible positioning times.

DMG MORI plans to feature innovative machining technologies at Chicago Innovation Days in Hoffman Estates May 13-16, 2019. The event highlights include integrated digitization for planning, preparation, production, monitoring and service, automation solutions for competitive manufacturing and additive manufacturing with four process chains in the powder bed and with the powder nozzle. Additionally, DMG MORI will highlight innovations in aerospace, automotive, die & mold and medical. The company also will launch two U.S. premieres—the ALX 2000 and the DMP 70.
U.S premiere: ALX 2000
The ALX 2000, a U.S. premiere, is a stable, dynamic, and compact turning machine that combines standards from a max. spindle speed of 4,500 min-1 to the BMT turret with 12 powered tools and tailstock. In addition, the ALX 2000 offers a high degree of automation thanks to the optional gantry loader, a deciding factor for cost-effectiveness in production.
U.S. Premiere: DMP 70
As the successor of the MILLTAP 700 (with more than 3,000 machines installed), the new DMP 70 offers high productivity in a small space. With a footprint of 46.28ft² it is 10% smaller than the MILLTAP 700. DMG MORI has designed the compact production machine for applications in medical technology, job shops as well as the aerospace sector. Travel paths of 27x16x15 in. and the optional integrated swivel/rotary table enable five-axis simultaneous machining of a wide range of components.
Other Highlights
The machine tool manufacturer will be showing a representative cross-section of its five-axis portfolio during the Innovation Days in Chicago. DMG MORI will present a DMU 50 3rd-generation automated with a PH 150 pallet handling, two monoBLOCK machines and two models from the duoBLOCK series as well as the DMU 200 Gantry. The ULTRASONIC 20 linear and the LASERTEC 3D machines for additive manufacturing complete the five-axis exhibits.
Additionally, DMG MORI is now enhancing its activities and offering complete solutions from one source under the label DMG MORI Qualified Products (DMQP). Coordinated interfaces, securing connectivity, price maintenance and defined warranty conditions ensure ongoing productivity increases for the manufacturing solutions of DMG MORI customers, according to the company.
